Easter 2008

Holy week commenced with the distribution of palm crosses at the Palm Sunday mass. This was followed by a Bring and Share lunch. It was the turn of Holy Trinity Nice to have the Bishop come and celebrate the Chrism mass. Liturgically and musically the service was an inspiration as was the Bishop's sermon.

On Thursday we had a version of the passover meal preceeded by hand washing rather than feet washing, in groups. After the meal we went to the chapel for the Eucharist.

The Revd. Peter Massey led a meditation on the Seven Words from the Cross on Good Friday . This took place at Arc-en-Provence, a christian holiday and worship centre which he and his wife Shirley run at Lorgues.

For those unable to attend this Cécile lead a meditation on the Stations of the Cross at Prasada in the evening. We are fortunate to have a beautiful set of the Stations which were given to Cécile on the occasion of her 50th anniverary in vows.

We were so happy on Easter Sunday that a local family wanted their two young sons baptised during the Easter Mass. This took place in the Chapel of St. Barthélémy as we had a larger than usual congregation. It is an ancient Chapel which was renovated by Christian Dior and then given to the municipality of Montauroux. We were kindly given permission to use the Chapel.

Afterwards we shared an aperitive with the family before going off to the home of Hilary and Peter Rost who had kindly organised our Easter meal.

The next day Cécile left for a well-earned rest and after driving through France had the luck to arrive on a day of sunshine.

I'm happy to say that the sun also shines here.
